The stone church was consecrated in honor of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos in 1798 and built with the funds of Pyotr Ivanovich Borozdny. The church impresses with its size: 11 fathoms from the high place to the western door, 7.5 fathoms in width, and 20 fathoms in height. Among the sacred relics, special attention is drawn to the image of the suffering Savior, painted on canvas with the inscription: "on Tabor Thy face shone like the sun. Behold, alas, alas, I see it stained with blood." This image was found in a miraculous way. Pyotr Ivanovich Borozdny, suffering from a severe illness, dreamed that in his estate in the village of Kurshanovichi there was an image on the bell tower, and when it was placed in the church, he would be healed. After this, Borozdny sent trusted people to Kurshanovichi, where they found the image rolled up on the bell tower. The image was brought to Medvedovo, and Borozdny recovered. In gratitude, he arranged two magnificent kiots in the church, one of which housed the image of the suffering Savior, and the other, the Kazan icon of the Mother of God, which had previously been Borozdny's home icon. Both images are covered with silver vestments. In 1853, during a cholera epidemic, the image of the Savior was carried in a procession around the village, and the residents remained unharmed. Since then, an annual procession is held on August 29 in memory of God's mercy. The tabernacle of the church is remarkable in its design: it resembles a convex pocket watch. On the upper bone board, decorated with a gilded rim, the crucifixion of the Savior is carved, and on the lower, an eight-pointed cross on silver. Inside are miniature chalice, diskos, spoon, lip, and three triangular silver vessels. On the inner side of the tabernacle is carved an image of the Mother of God with the hymn: "It is truly meet to bless thee, O Theotokos." This work of art is a rarity. The Gospel in a book binding from 1746 in a silver frame with the inscription: "This Gospel was bound in 1771 at the expense and effort of the banneret Vasily Borozdny."

At the entrance to the church, there are two marble monuments in the wall over the remains of the builders of the church, Pyotr Ivanovich Borozdny and his wife, Ekaterina Grigoryevna, née Kulyabkina.

According to the report of 1767, there was a school at the church, a yard for the sexton, and another for the priest Vasily Desha. The latter yard included arable land called polchvertka, on which "in all three seasons, 3 quarters of rye were sown, 2 gardens were sown with hemp on 3 quarter, and haymaking for 13 carts." All this was provided to the priest Father Vasily by the owner of the village.

The church was abolished and destroyed during the Soviet era.
