The village of Knyazhpogost is one of the oldest settlements located on the right bank of the Vyma River. It is believed that there once was a settlement of ancient local princes here. By the early 17th century, there were two churches in the village. In 1830, a large stone church was built here, consecrated in honor of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos.
