Assumption Church in Izhma

Фото 1
The historical Assumption Church with a separate bell tower was built in 1794 and had two altars: the Assumption altar, consecrated in 1796, and the Nicholas altar, consecrated in 1795. An image of the bell tower has survived, representing a tall octagonal structure with a low square base, topped with an open tier for ringing and a domed roof with a large drum, spire, and cross. Due to its dilapidation, the church and bell tower were dismantled in 1860.

In 1862, a new wooden five-domed Assumption Church was built. It had a cross-shaped design and was log-built. The church building burned down in 1994, and in 2009, a new wooden Assumption Church was erected on the same site.
