Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Chernyanka

Фото 1
The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Chernyanka was built in the late 1990s on the site where a church had previously stood, destroyed during the Soviet period in the first half of the 20th century.

Before 1917, there were two churches in Chernyanka: the Assumption Church, located in the center of the village and demolished in 1933, and the Nikolsky Church, situated on the outskirts and destroyed in 1937.

For a long time, there was no church in the village, but an Orthodox community existed, and services were held in the Assumption Prayer House for thirty-five years.

Construction of the new church began in 1991. On May 8, 1996, on the day of the village's 340th anniversary, the church was consecrated by Bishop John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol.

In 2000, the church was painted, and two years later, six bells were installed in it.
