In 1857, a brick Assumption church was built in the village of Alexeyevka. By 1908, the parish included the hamlets of Sofronovka and Gorodishche, and the church was regularly attended by 2868 parishioners. There were ministerial and three zemstvo schools operating here. The church is protected by the state as a monument of architecture from the mid-19th century.

This majestic building was erected to replace a wooden predecessor that was dismantled due to serious damage to its load-bearing structures. Architecturally, the church is an example of the pseudo-Russian style: the main square is elongated vertically, and five onion domes rise on cylindrical drums. The exterior decoration features arched elements, and the decorative frames of the windows are made of white stone, as is the relief decoration of the ridge.

In its one and a half century history, the church was closed only during World War II, during which it was also seriously damaged. The refectory with the bell tower was likely destroyed in the 1930s-1940s.

Currently, the church has been fully restored and renovated, with the interior decoration preserved in its original form, and the domes replaced with new ones.
