Фото 1
Praskovievka, a small coastal village with a population of about 150 people. In 1896, it was granted the status of a village due to the construction of a church in honor of the Beheading of John the Baptist. One of the first priests to serve in this church was Antoniy Ikonomidi. He arrived in 1880 from Asian Turkey along with other immigrants and on March 12, 1882, took an oath of allegiance to Russia, addressing the district chief with a request to allow him to conduct church rites (according to the archive of the Sukhumi diocese). In 1896, a stone church was built on the site of the prayer room.

In the 1950s, the church was converted into a youth club, where films were shown and dances and weddings were held. The interior decoration of the church was changed, but the exterior remained the same. In the late 1990s, the church was revived, and in the early 21st century, it was renovated. After the building was transferred to the church, the parish was restored.
