On the site of the former Yamskaya sloboda, at the intersection of modern Soviet and Kalinin streets, stands the Holy Trinity Church, also known as the Church of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity. Its history begins in the early 17th century when the Trinity parish appeared in the Mtsensk fortress. Around 1625, a wooden church with three altars was built: to the Holy Life-Giving Trinity, the Nativity of Christ, and Saints Cosmas and Damian. However, on December 26, 1676, a fire completely destroyed the building. Soon after, a new wooden church with the same altars was erected on the same site.

By the second half of the 18th century, the wooden church had deteriorated significantly, and it was decided to build a new stone church in the territory of Yamskaya sloboda. This location was chosen not by chance, as the carriers enjoyed privileges and could become generous donors. The construction of the stone church began in 1770, and it became the first stone building in the New settlement. The funds for the construction were donated by merchant Alexei Ivanovich Inozemtsev, although according to other sources, it was Philip Inozemtsev. The construction lasted seven years, and in 1777, the first services were held in the church.

In 1841, a church bell tower was built according to the design of architect Visconti. It has a round shape and is adorned with Tuscan half-columns. In the mid-19th century, a stone shop and a charitable institution funded by merchant O. I. Soplyakov operated at the church. In 1856, there were 12 women living in the charitable institution.

In 1935, the church was closed, and its building was used as a warehouse, which caused significant damage to its stone masonry. During the years of perestroika, the building was abandoned and subjected to vandalism. In 1991, the church was returned to the community of believers, and services resumed in 1993. In 1996, the refectory was opened, and in 1997, regular services began in the chapel of St. Nicholas of Myra.

The main altar was consecrated in 1999 by Archbishop Paisius of Oryol and Livny. Currently, restoration work continues in the church. In 2008, new gilded crosses were installed, and the roof repair was nearly completed. Plans include replacing the floor tiles and altering the facades of the buildings.
