In the small village of Gnilo, located in the Chernyansky district of the Belgorod region, there is a significant architectural and ecclesiastical monument of the 19th century, the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity. This building has a rich history.

Until the mid-19th century, there stood an old wooden church in this village, consecrated in honor of Saint Demetrius of Thessalonica, which eventually fell into disrepair. At the request of the local community, in 1863, the construction of a new stone building began on the site of the former church, which was consecrated as the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity. According to the census, at the beginning of the 20th century, there was a large parish here with a membership of 4,146 believers.

In 1908, the neighboring settlements of Okuni, Raevka, and Yablonov belonged to the Trinity parish, and a church parish school was opened for local residents. Notably, during the existence of the Soviet Union, the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity continued to function, holding services and solemn liturgies on major Christian holidays.

Today, restoration and renovation work is being carried out at the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity. Recently, a monument with the inscription "To the deceased in the 19th century" was updated, located on the church grounds.
