Among modern buildings, residential houses, and office centers, this church stands out with its tall bell tower, elongated tent roof, and rich decoration of the facades in the Neo-Russian style. It is hard to believe that not long ago the building looked much less well-kept.

In the second half of the 17th century, the road to the suburban village of Shabolovo (now the area at the intersection of Novocheremushkinskaya Street and Nakhimovsky Avenue) gradually became populated. The need for a parish church arose, and in 1698-1699, a wooden church in honor of the Holy Trinity was built on the land of the Danilov Monastery. After several fires, with funds from the secretary of the Land Survey Office V.P. Bulygin, a more spacious stone church of the Trinity with a chapel of the Protection was erected in 1745-1747. In 1840-1842, according to the project of architect N.I. Kozlovsky, the church was expanded: a wide refectory with two chapels, the Protection and Nikolsky, and a three-tiered bell tower above the western entrance appeared. In 1885-1895, the main church of the 18th century was dismantled, and in its place, architect N.V. Nikitin built the church that has survived to this day. The construction work was supervised by architect M.P. Ivanov.

The previously built refectory looks strict, with elements of the Empire style, large windows with semicircular finishes, and an elongated bell tower with two tiers of ringing. The main Trinity church, created during the heyday of the Neo-Russian style, is distinguished by the extravagance and beauty of this direction. Architect Nikitin, returning to tent churches, crowned the main volume with an elongated tent roof that seems to grow out of the levels of large kokoshniks. The side facades are decorated with large windows with frames in the 17th-century style and perspective portals. The interiors of the church and the iconostasis were designed by D.N. Chichagov, the future creator of the Moscow City Duma building. Consecrated in 1896, the church accommodated 1,000 people and was one of the largest in the area.

In 1930, the authorities decided to demolish the closed Trinity church, but the plans were only partially realized: the tent was demolished, and the bell tower was dismantled to the first tier, turning the building into a shapeless stump. Inside, clubs and organizations of local factories and enterprises were placed. At the end of 1992, the church was consecrated again through the efforts of a new community, but it remained mutilated for a long time. Only in the 2000s was it possible to carry out a large-scale restoration, recreating the lost elements: the church regained its bell tower and tent, and the facades were restored. The interiors were also addressed: the iconostases and decoration were recreated as accurately as possible. In addition to the revived chapels in the church, an additional chapel in honor of All Saints was consecrated in the basement. Today we can see the Trinity Church in Shabolovka as it was a hundred years ago.
