In the village of Malye Mayachki, a wooden church dedicated to Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker was built and consecrated in 1862. By the early 20th century, its parish had 475 members, and a literacy school operated at the church. The Nikolayevskaya church was associated with 43 desyatinas of land, and a house for the clergy was also built. However, during the Soviet era, the church was closed and destroyed.

In the early 21st century, a new church dedicated to the Equal-to-the-Apostles Methodius and Cyril was built on its site. Construction was completed in 2005. The new church is designed in the traditions of Russian Orthodox architecture, utilizing modern construction technologies, and features a tent-like dome characteristic of 19th-century churches. The consecration of the newly built church took place on July 14, 2007, by Archbishop John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol.
