On August 31, 2014, in the 12th week after Pentecost, on the day of the memory of Saints Flora and Laurus, Metropolitan Ioann of Belgorod and Stary Oskol conducted the consecration and the first Divine Liturgy in the church dedicated to these saints in the village of Khokhlovo, Belgorod District.

The initiative to build the new Orthodox shrine belonged to the Green Valley Group of Companies, an agroholding specializing in dairy farming. On January 17, 2012, Archbishop Ioann of Belgorod and Stary Oskol consecrated the cornerstone of the church in honor of Saints Flora and Laurus in the village of Khokhlovo.

The construction lasted just over two years. Employees of the Green Valley Group of Companies actively participated in the construction of the church, making personal donations to purchase a bell. The bell is engraved with the inscription: "This bell was cast as a gift to the church of Saints Flora and Laurus in the village of Khokhlovo, Belgorod District, from the team of the Green Valley Group in the year of our Lord 2014 by the blessing of Metropolitan Ioann of Belgorod and Stary Oskol." The church is dedicated to the patrons of livestock farming, Saints Flora and Laurus. The date of the consecration was chosen intentionally: it is their feast day, which by the decree of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Rus is recognized as the church holiday for veterinarians within the Russian Orthodox Church. The church in the village of Khokhlovo will become the 169th in the Belgorod and Stary Oskol diocese.

Previously, on the site of the new church, there stood a church consecrated in honor of Saints Cosmas and Damian, which was closed in 1940 and later destroyed.
