The building, previously used as a military club, was transferred to the Kaluga Diocese on March 17, 1995. In the same year, the youth center "Hope" began operating here. A domestic church was established in the hall of the building in honor of the holy martyrs Faith, Hope, Love, and their mother Sophia.

The first rector of the church was Igumen Rostislav (Kolupaev). On May 5, 1997, Archbishop Clement founded the diocesan Orthodox Spiritual and Educational Center "Faith, Hope, Love" in Obninsk, and Priest Gennady Evdachev was appointed its director and rector of the church.

That same year, the church was renovated: it was separated from other premises of the center, the altar was expanded, and a new iconostasis was installed. The spiritual life of the parish became more active at the center. An icon of St. Pafnuty Borovsky, specially written for the church, was brought in from the Pafnutiev-Borovsky Monastery, as well as an icon of the Mother of God "It is Truly Meet."

In 1998, a second church was established in the building in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "It is Truly Meet." The interior space of the church was painted by children studying in the creative studios of the center. The first service in the new church was conducted by Archbishop Clement. On October 12, 1998, the Center and its churches were visited by His Holiness Patriarch Maxim of Bulgaria.
