In 1997, in Belgorod, with the blessing of Archbishop Ioann of Belgorod and Stary Oskol, the creation of a temple complex began, which was to become an important center of church life and spiritual enlightenment in the region. The complex includes a church in honor of the Holy Martyrs Faith, Hope, Love, and their mother Sophia, the church of Saint George the Victorious, a spiritual and educational center, a chapel of the Holy Trinity, a chapel over the spring in the name of St. Seraphim of Sarov, and a pilgrimage center.

On January 26, 1997, the Orthodox parish in honor of the Holy Martyrs Faith, Hope, Love, and their mother Sophia was officially registered in Belgorod. On May 25, 2007, Archbishop Ioann consecrated the cornerstone for the construction of the temple complex of this parish.

In 1999, a chapel in the name of the Life-Giving Trinity was built and consecrated on the territory of the future complex. On September 20, 2004, after a moleben conducted by Priest Sergey Koliy, the excavation for the church in honor of the Holy Martyrs Faith, Hope, Love, and their mother Sophia began. On December 5 of the same year, Archbishop Ioann consecrated the foundation.

The church in honor of the Holy Martyrs Faith, Hope, Love, and their mother Sophia is a majestic seventeen-domed structure. The height of the central dome is 38.35 meters, and the usable area of the church is 2840 square meters. The church features a three-tiered iconostasis in the baroque style. On May 15, 2009, at 14:10, fire truck sirens sounded: the roof of the under-construction church caught fire. Despite the fire, the crosses remained intact. By July 2009, new domes were consecrated and installed on the restored roof. In the last week of April 2010, the Upper Place in the altar was arranged in the church, decorated with stained glass icons, and the iconostasis was installed, along with the church icon of the Holy Martyrs Faith, Hope, Love, and their mother Sophia.
