At the highest point of the village of Kurasovka, a wooden church stood in the 18th century, surrounded by an elegant fence.

There is information that the church was built in 1864; however, the village chronicle reports the opening of a parish school that year: "In the village of Kurasovka, a parish (mixed) school was opened in 1863." It is known that in 1913, 52 boys and 4 girls studied at this school. Seven more boys were denied admission due to lack of space.

In 1932, the church was closed, and in 1941 it was dismantled for timber. Some of the wood was used to add two classrooms to the school, while the rest was planned for the construction of a club. However, the war changed those plans. In 1943, the military used these logs to build bunkers. After the war, the logs from the bunkers were used to restore houses destroyed by bombings.

From 1950 to 1954, services were held in a specially adapted room in the village.

On October 14, 1996, a site was consecrated for the construction of a new church, and on November 22, 1998, Bishop Ioann of Belgorod and Stary Oskol consecrated the church in the name of Saints Cosmas and Damian.
