The Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian in the village of Gorodishche was built in 2006 on the site of an 18th-century church that was destroyed during the Soviet era.

According to the historical and archaeological collection "Voronezh Antiquity," in 1763 there were two churches in the village: the old one dedicated to Cosmas and Damian, and the new one, the Savior's Church. In 1780, a new wooden church of Cosmas and Damian was consecrated, built in a different location.

Until 1917, there were two functioning churches in Gorodishche: in honor of the Merciful Savior and Saints Cosmas and Damian. In 1939, the Soviet authorities decided to demolish the church of Cosmas and Damian, and by 1940 both churches were destroyed.

Until the 1990s, only one stone remained, which was laid in the foundation of the new church on June 16, 1997. Since then, services were held in a temporary facility.

The new church in the name of Saints Cosmas and Damian was consecrated by Archbishop Ioann of Belgorod and Stary Oskol on November 12, 2006. A children's Sunday school operates at the church.
