Church of St. Paraskeva in Ovstug (lost)

Фото 1
In the village of Ovstug, Bryansk region, the birthplace of poet F.I. Tyutchev, a memorial sign has been installed at the site of the lost church of St. Paraskeva. This church was the first Orthodox temple in Ovstug and was known since the mid-17th century. It was a small wooden building with one dome and a bell tower. The Paraskeva church stood on a hill opposite Tyutchev's estate until the early 20th century, after which it was lost due to dilapidation. The church housed an ancient icon of St. Paraskeva, particularly venerated by the locals.

The memorial sign was established thanks to the efforts of the museum-reserve staff and benefactors, friends of Ovstug. Next to the granite stone, which features the image of St. Paraskeva, there are information stands telling the history of the ancient church.
