Holy Trinity Church in Varvarenki

Фото 1
The Church of the Holy Trinity was built in Varvarenki in the late 18th century and adorned with a unique hand-crafted iconostasis. In 1909, a new brick building with a refectory and a tented bell tower was constructed on this site, which functioned until 1918 when the church was closed. In the mid-2000s, restoration of the church in the village of Varvarenki in the Kaluga region began, with active participation from monks of Optina Pustyn. Among the preserved relics was a unique cross from the time of Tsar Ivan the Terrible. It was restored and installed on the dome of the bell tower. Before this, significant repairs were carried out on the church building, the roof was almost completely replaced, and the monks from Optina Monastery restored and gilded the dome.
