The home church of the Holy Trinity Life-Giving in Oboyan belongs to the community led by the abbot (now archbishop) Joasaph (Shibaev). In 1991, the community joined the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia, and in 1995, to the schismatic Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate.
Initially, the community owned the Trinity Cathedral of the city, but in 1993, after the cathedral was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church, the community's church was established in a two-story brick house built in the late 19th to early 20th century, which is distinguished by its domes.
