According to the State Archive of the Kursk Region, the building of the Trinity Church in the village of Bunino was erected in 1851. The documents about churches and parishes indicate that it was a wooden, single-altar church. Two people served there: a priest and a psalmist. The parish had 851 members, and there were a zemstvo school and a literacy school operating. The parish had 3.25 desyatinas of homestead land and 38.75 desyatinas of arable land. The church functioned until the early 1930s, after which it burned down, and services were held in homes.

After the war, priest Mikhail Khalin, a native of the village of Polevaya, along with local residents, built a new wooden church. Father Mikhail served there for more than thirty years and was buried next to the church. His relatives, including a daughter-in-law and grandchildren, live in the village of Polevaya.

In the neighboring village of Mashnino, there is a spring founded by merchant Mashnin, who may have been a relative of St. Seraphim of Sarov.

By the decree of the governor of the Kursk region on October 30, 1998, the Trinity Church in the village of Bunino was included in the list of local heritage sites. In 2015, a baptismal font was built at the spring of St. Seraphim of Sarov.
