The Church of St. Equal-to-the-Apostles Mary Magdalene, located in the village of Evgenyevka in the Kastorensky district, was built in 1878 and is a monument of 19th-century architecture. It has remained intact both during the Soviet era and during the war, avoiding destruction from German bombing.

The church, situated in the village of Ozerki in the Zemlyansky district (now the village of Evgenyevka in the Kastorensky district of the Kursk region), was constructed from stone with a bell tower in 1878 using funds from the widow of Major General Nadezhda Mikhailovna Korovkina. She owned 1.5 desyatinas of estate land and 32 desyatinas of arable land. The church houses were made of wood. To support the clergy, the church builder allocated 4% of a State Bank bond worth 12,529 rubles. A burial vault was arranged at the church, and there were 925 parishioners, including residents of the village and the villages of Azarovka, Grafovka, and Razdolye.

The church survived the Soviet era and the war without destruction. In the last ten years, it has been undergoing restoration. In December 2012, a small dome with a cross was installed on the church, made by the company 'EnergoMashProm' from Volgodonsk. A small winter church also operates on the church grounds.
