The Church of St. Mary Magdalene at the Karachev Women's Gymnasium was founded in 1882 on the third floor of the stone building of the gymnasium, thanks to donations from the Karachev merchant Kochergin. In 1898, the church was expanded, its length increased to 41 arshins. During the renovation, the holy altar was removed, and the iconostasis was dismantled. After all the work was completed, on April 4, 1899, His Grace Nikanor conducted the full consecration of the church. The church has no notable items, and there are no metric or confession books. The church is visited by the students of the gymnasium and the women's parish school.
