The idea of building a church in Krasnokamsk lived in the hearts of the city's residents, both believers and those contemplating God, for several decades. At some point, it became clear that without faith, the soul remains empty, like a cloud without water, carried by the winds and gusts of passions. The soul yearns for God, and this meant it was time to build a church.

On October 15, 1990, at the initiative of the rector of the Prophet Elijah Church, Archpriest Viktor Martochkin, a meeting of believers was held at the fence of the Ust-Synovskaya Church. The only item on the agenda was the construction of a church in Krasnokamsk.

The location for the construction was proposed by parishioner Ivan Vasilyevich Lazarev. It was a quiet corner on the banks of the Kama River.

In March 1991, the believers elected 14 people as members of the community, with Pyotr Vasilyevich Nikolaev becoming the first chairman. He had to travel to Perm multiple times before the registration certificate for the St. Catherine's parish community, intending to build a church, was obtained.

In early 1992, a competition for the church project for Krasnokamsk was announced in the region, with 30 architects participating. Six months later, a second competition was held, and finally, a suitable project was found. It was planned to build a church similar to the one in Volzhsk, but on a larger scale.

In March 1994, a model of the church was delivered to Krasnokamsk. On October 14, 1994, the church was laid, consecrated by Archbishop of Perm and Solikamsk Afanasy.

Particular attention should be paid to the date of June 4, 1995, when Archbishop Afanasy consecrated the lower floor of St. Catherine's Church, and services began, continued by Archpriest Viktor Martochkin, the current rector of St. Catherine the Great Martyr Church.

It seemed that everything was going well: the first floor was built, services were held, and a Sunday school was operating. However, the construction dragged on for more than 10 years. Work was often done on credit, relying on donations from patrons, parishioners, and funds from charity concerts.

Finally, in 2006, a dome shone over the church. Only Father Viktor and Matushka Natalia know how much effort, hope, disappointment, and tears the history of this church's construction holds. But even in the most difficult moments, faithful parishioners were there, ready to help.

Speaking of the church's construction, one cannot fail to mention the person without whom the church might not have been built. This is the city's head at that time, Vladimir Mikhailovich Vorkov. He actively supported the construction, believing that the church would contribute to the moral healing of society. Vladimir Mikhailovich personally participated in choosing the location for the church, the contractor for the construction, often visited the construction site, and later attended services. Parishioners remember him and pray for him.

A Sunday school operates at the church, existing since its foundation. Each year, more and more children come to classes. Every lesson begins with a prayer. In the first classes, the children, under the guidance of teachers and Father Viktor, study the church's basics: why people go to church, how to cross oneself properly, pray, light a candle, learn about God, and listen to stories about the saints.

Older children study the Holy Scriptures, the Law of God, the works of the Holy Fathers, and become familiar with rhetoric and Church Slavonic.
