During the Great Patriotic War, fierce battles took place in the area of the old airport in Voronezh, near the grove "Heart." Today, in gratitude for the victory and in memory of the fallen soldiers, a temple complex has been erected in honor of Saint Blessed Xenia of Petersburg. In 1995, a cornerstone for the future temple was laid near the chapel dedicated to Saint Prince Alexander Nevsky. The construction was completed in 2009. The temple, designed by architect A.B. Logvinov, is built in the ancient Russian style and has the shape of a "ship" with nine domes, but without a bell tower. Its height is about 30 meters, and the belfry is located in two small domes.

Currently, the complex includes a lower church in honor of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker and an upper church in honor of Blessed Xenia of Petersburg, with an altar dedicated to the icon of the Mother of God "Vladimirskaya." On June 6, 2013, Metropolitan Sergey of Voronezh and Borisoglebsk laid a commemorative plaque at the foundation of the new bell tower.
