St. George the Victorious Church in Malyy Zmeinets

Фото 1
In the village of Malyy Zmeinets, the Church of St. George has been preserved, built in 1900. It functioned for a short time and was closed in the 1930s. The building was then used as a warehouse and a mill, and later it housed a village club. In the late 1990s, the church was returned to the believers.

A distinctive feature of this church is the Orthodox cross located to the left of the entrance. It has several memorial plaques with the names of 120 villagers who participated in the Great Patriotic War, of which 77 people died. At the bottom of the cross, there is an inscription: "Thank you, fathers and grandfathers, husbands, brothers, sons, for the blood shed and lives given in the brutal war against the German invaders for the Russian land, for your people... May the earth be soft for you. Descendant, remember these names, they are your roots. May 9, 1990."
