The George Church was built in 1900 and began functioning in 1902, after which Dolzhenkovo received the status of a village. The church, made of wood on a stone foundation, had a cross-shaped layout and two domes. Its dimensions were 46 by 36 arshins, and it had 32 windows with grilles. The outer walls were covered with pine boards and painted with whitewash, while the corners and cornices, as well as the iron roof, were light green. Iron crosses rose above the domes. Next to the church was a bell tower with five bells. A church parish school operated at the church, located in a new building.

The exact time of the church's closure in the 1930s is unknown. During the occupation in World War II, services were likely resumed. In 1944, parishioners requested the reopening of the church, but the bishop dismissed the matter. It was only in 1971 that the church in Dolzhenkovo was reopened, however, in the 1970s and 1980s it was not listed among the active churches.

The Church of George the Victorious is included in the list of cultural heritage sites representing historical, scientific, artistic, or other value. Currently, the church is being restored, and services are being held there.
