On May 15, 2016, a cornerstone was laid for a new church in honor of St. Demetrius of Thessalonica in the village of Rashovets, Soviet District. This event marked the restoration of the shrine at the site where the church was destroyed during Soviet times.

On August 5, 2016, Bishop Paisiy of Shchigry and Manturovo consecrated the dome and cross of the church under construction in this area.

On December 11, 2016, during the 25th week after Pentecost, on the day of remembrance of the holy martyr Metropolitan Serafim Chichagov, Bishop Paisiy conducted a minor consecration of the new church. After that, he served the Divine Liturgy in the church in honor of St. Demetrius of Thessalonica in the village of Rashovets.
