Documents from the 1670s mention that the Church of St. Demetrius of Thessalonica in the village of Golyazhye (now Otradnoye) was in such a dilapidated state that services had not been held there for a long time and no singing was heard. In 1679, the local landowner Izmail Timofeevich Alymov began the construction of a new wooden church. However, in December 1713, the church burned down.

From 1754 to 1757, a stone church was built.

After the revolution, the church was closed and was used alternately as a club and as a storage facility for the collective farm.

In 2001, restoration of the church began, organized by a charitable society, but due to a lack of funds, the work was suspended. On November 14, 2003, a meeting took place where the villagers decided to create a community for the independent restoration of the church. Work was carried out to clear the church of debris and to clean the surrounding area.

On December 19, 2003, the first service was held. On November 8, 2004, the first Liturgy took place. In 2005, the church's dome was restored and covered with metal.
