The village of Boloto was founded between 1730 and 1750. In 1802, it had 148 men and 137 women. By 1904, the village had 96 households with 388 men and 407 women.
The first wooden church in Boloto was built in 1756. In 1797, construction of a new wooden church began. For this, a wooden church with an iconostasis from the village of Shestakovo in Pavlovsky district was purchased, moved to Boloto, and consecrated in honor of St. Demetrius of Thessalonica in 1802. In 1817, the wooden roof was replaced with an iron one, and in 1825, the iconostasis was updated.
In 1890, thanks to the efforts of the parishioners, a stone church was built with an altar in the name of St. Demetrius the Myrrh-streaming. The church has a cross-shaped form: 40 arshins long, 10 arshins wide, with arms 22 arshins, and the bell tower height is 35 arshins. The altar is separated by a two-tiered iconostasis, and the walls are adorned with sacred images. The church houses the miraculous Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God, which, according to legend, appeared 100 years ago at the well on the bank of the Ubli River, one and a half versts from the church. An annual procession to this spring takes place on June 23.
In the early 20th century, a room for the church parish school was allocated in the church watchman's house. The clergy used 56 desyatinas of land and received 400 rubles in state salary, as well as interest from a deposit of 100 rubles.
The church was closed in the late 1950s, but in the 1990s, its building was returned to the believers. The Church of St. Demetrius of Thessalonica is recognized as a monument of history and culture of the peoples of the Russian Federation and an object of cultural heritage.
