Old Moscow is a remarkable place where, among many well-known capital churches, lies the lesser-known St. Tryphon Church, built in 1492. It is one of the three oldest churches in Moscow. According to legend, the church was founded by a Moscow boyar and falconer in gratitude to the saint for a miraculous escape from execution, which threatened him for losing a falcon during the hunt of Grand Duke Ivan III.

As the falconer awaited his fate, he prayed earnestly, and suddenly St. Tryphon appeared before him with a falcon on his arm, saving the boyar from execution. Soon after, he redeemed part of the hunting grounds that belonged to Ivan Kalita and his son Semyon the Proud from the Grand Duke and built a church on this site, which has survived to this day. The church has repeatedly faced the threat of destruction: first under Peter the Great, then under Catherine the Great, but she prohibited its demolition, considering it ancient. During the Soviet era, all extensions were demolished, but the church itself miraculously remained intact.

In 1812, a relic of St. Tryphon was transferred to the church, gifted to Emperor Alexander I. At that time, additional altars were built, which were later demolished by the Bolsheviks. Until 2000, a unique fresco of the saint, created in 1492, was located in the church's altar. A special entrance was made for parishioners to see it, but in 2000, the fresco was cut out and moved to a museum along with part of the wall. Despite this, Muscovites continue to visit the church, and according to their testimonies, St. Tryphon answers their prayers, especially regarding work, as he is considered a helper in finding and fulfilling jobs.
