A church dedicated to the holy prophet, Forerunner, and Baptist of the Lord John has opened in the village of Zolotukhino in the Kursk region. It was built in the women's monastery named after St. Alexius, the man of God.

The consecration of the church was conducted by Bishop German, and the solemn ceremony was attended by Schema-Metropolitan Juvenaly, the governor, Kursk deputies, and guests from the Belgorod region.

Previously, there was no Orthodox church in Zolotukhino, let alone a monastery. The land on which it now stands was purchased by the former Metropolitan of Kursk and Rylsk, Juvenaly, and previously housed a fattening workshop.

In April 1998, with the blessing of Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and all Russia, the Holy Synod officially established the monastery in honor of St. Alexius, the man of God. Currently, about 20 sisters and novices reside here, and the monastery is led by Sister Elizabeth.
