The construction of the church in honor of the martyr Tryphon at the cemetery began in March 2000. By December 2001, the construction and installation work, as well as the exterior finishing, were completed, after which the church building was accepted for operation by the state commission.

The project and cost documentation for the construction of the church were developed by the chief architect of the region, I.A. Savichev, who is also the director of APM "Archproject."

On August 3, 2000, by order No. 2629-r, the City Administration allocated land for the church. The construction was funded by V.A. Dubrovkin, the general director of the Kaluga enterprise "Remputmash."

The church is built of stone, has one altar, and accommodates 200 people. Its architecture harmoniously combines elements of modern and ancient Russian architecture. The church is topped with a single dome and features a bell tower designed in the style of the 13th-14th centuries.

On February 14, 2002, on the day of the martyr Tryphon's memory, the first Divine Liturgy was held in the church, led by Archbishop Clement with the participation of the Kaluga clergy. The first rector of the church was Priest Evgeny Golubkov, who tragically died on October 17, 2009. During his service, all repair and restoration work was completed, the area around the church was improved, and a Sunday school was opened.
