Uvelye, a village in the Krasnogorsk district of the Bryansk region, is located in the Yalovskoye rural settlement. It is situated 6 km south of the village of Yalovka, on the Vikholka River, and 1 km west of Lake Kozhany. The first mentions of the village date back to the early 18th century when it was owned by the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and was part of the Bobovitskaya volost in the territory of the Novomestskaya hundred of the Starodub regiment. There was no Cossack population in the village. In 1882, a wooden church dedicated to Archangel Michael was built here, which was used as a club from the 1930s but has not survived to this day. According to data from 1897, the village had 273 households and a population of 2,169. At the end of the 19th century, a literacy school was opened in Uvelye.
