The church in honor of the archistrateg Michael is located on a hill in the village of Uporoy. Initially, it was likely wooden, but the exact date of its construction is unknown. It is known that in 1807, the parish included not only the village of Uporoy but also the village of Panikovets and the village of Polubeevka. Archive documents state: "The church existing in the village of Uporoy is stone, single-altar, built in 1815 with the funds of parishioners and has not undergone changes since then."

The fate of the church has been complicated: during Soviet times, it was closed and became abandoned. In 1943, during the retreat of the German fascist troops, the church was blown up. Only ruins remain of the stone building. The residents of the village of Uporoy took the remaining icons from the church, although no one admits to this and they are reluctant to let others into their homes. The church bell is with one of the residents of the village of Babinki. To this day, the church is almost completely destroyed, with only partial walls remaining.
