The Church of Archangel Michael in the village of Trubezh was built in 1868 with funds from local residents. It was a wooden structure with rich interior paintings and church utensils. In the 1920s, the church's property was described and nationalized, after which the building was used as a grain storage facility. At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, services in the church resumed. During the Battle of Kursk in 1943, as recalled by participants of those events, on June 6, the 40th Fighter Regiment, located near the church, suffered significant losses in battles against the fascists. A priest, whose name has not been preserved, sent an altar boy to the regiment commander with an invitation to the service. Despite the anti-religious propaganda in the Red Army, all personnel attended the service. The priest noted the pilots who distinguished themselves, after which a prayer service was held. In memory of this event, after the war, a memorial plaque was installed on the church in honor of the pilots of the 40th Fighter Regiment. After the victory in the war, the surviving pilots repeatedly visited the church on May 9.

In 1963, the church was closed again and used as a grain storage facility. Services resumed in 1992.
