The village of Arkhangelskoye was founded by settlers from the Belgorod district and received its name thanks to the wooden church of Archangel Michael, built in 1778. The exact date of the construction of the stone church is unknown, but it is believed to have occurred in the late 19th or early 20th century.

During the war, the church was heavily damaged by shelling, after which services ceased, and the building was used as a mill and storage. The internal wall paintings have partially survived.

After restoration, the church was consecrated by Archbishop John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol on October 10, 2010.
