On August 5, 2017, a prayer service was held at the Church of St. Michael the Archangel in the village of Shoshka, and icons were donated to the church. The history of the church's restoration began with an unusual event. In the spring of 2015, the Pavlov family was preparing for fieldwork and discovered a fragment of a bell depicting Archangel Michael while digging in their garden. The villagers perceived this as a 'sign from above' and decided to restore the church.

The Church of Archangel Michael has a rich history. The village of Shoshka is first mentioned in the 16th century as a pogost, where two churches stood, that of Archistratigus Michael and St. Nicholas. In 1836, construction of a stone single-story church began in Shoshka with the blessing of Bishop Stefan of Vologda and Ustyug. The church housed two valuable icons: one of St. Nicholas of Myra the Wonderworker, considered miraculous, and another of the Assembly of Archistratigus Michael and other Bodiless Powers. On festive days and days of veneration of these icons, believers from surrounding villages visited the church. During the Soviet era, the icons disappeared, and in 1936 the church was closed. The building was used as a fire bell tower, club, warehouse, and vegetable storage.

One of the sacred icons was found and restored with the help of parishioners. On August 5, the icon returned to the Church of Archangel Michael, and other icons will be donated to the church.
