St. Michael the Archangel Church in Serovka (lost)

Фото 1
The pillarless church with a dome is designed in the style of mature classicism. The two-light building has a cross-shaped form with a powerful central square, pierced by large semicircular openings and topped with a faceted dome. On either side of the altar with a semicircular apse are low volumes of the altar and deacon's room; the side wings with gable roofs and pediments are adorned with large arched niches at the ends. An elongated two-light refectory adjoins a lower square of the bell tower, topped with two wooden tiers with a domed roof and a cupola. The main motif of the facades is strict and ceremonial: rectangular and square panels are placed on the walls, into which arched (below) and round (above) windows or niches are embedded. The decor of the cross wings is more ornate, featuring arched niches and loggias decorated with pilasters and columns supporting the archivolts. The niches contain side entrances with triangular pediments and large semicircular windows of the second light. The interior of the church is dominated by a high central part with an octagonal dome on pendentives, which has narrow diagonal edges. The side rooms, altar, and refectory with flat ceilings open into it through wide arches. The projections of the walls with paired columns, dividing the refectory into two parts, are interesting; the lower tier of the bell tower has cut corners.
