The stone church dedicated to St. Archangel Michael was built in 1876. During the Soviet era, it fell into disrepair. Now, local parishioners, under the guidance of the rector, Archpriest Georgy Klyagin, are actively working on its restoration using donations.

The village of Pogozhevo is located in the eastern part of the Kursk region, in the forest-steppe zone. It is situated on the right bank of the Kastora River, a tributary of the Olym, approximately 10 kilometers southeast of the urban-type settlement of Kastornoye, which is the administrative center of the district.
