The brick church of St. Michael the Archangel was built in the village of Nizhnechufichevo, which was then part of the Kursk province, in 1860. Its consecration took place five years later. The funds for construction were provided by the local landowner Vasily Alexandrovich Yudin.

After 1917, the church was periodically closed. Despite partial destruction during World War II, services in Nizhnechufichevo continued until 1983, when a fire caused serious damage to the building.

The church was restored and reopened in 2011.
