In the village of Lokot, a wooden church was originally built, which was closed in 1937. With the onset of war, services resumed in the church, but in the 1950s, the church was closed again. To preserve the icons and church utensils, parishioners took them home. Later, the church building was converted into a village club, but it burned down due to negligence.

In 1961, a new school was built on the site of the burned church. Later, another brick school was constructed in a different location. In 1989, thanks to the efforts of the villagers, the vacant building was repurposed as a church, and the reconstruction of the former classrooms began. Icons and some church utensils were returned. Over time, two domes appeared on the church roof, and a watchman's hut was built. In December 1989, the church was consecrated by Metropolitan Juvenaly of Kursk and Rylsk. The rector became Archpriest Vladimir Valyashko, who served for 14 years. During this period, a bell tower, a baptismal room, and the surrounding area of the church were improved.
