The Church of St. Michael the Archangel is located in the village of Krasnoe in the Kaluga region. Initially, a wooden church was built here in 1774, which served the parishioners for almost 150 years. In 1910, a new stone church with a bell tower and a main altar dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel was constructed nearby. Documents related to this construction have been preserved in the State Archive. A brick factory was specially created for the church's construction. The building was designed in the neo-Russian style, with large windows, a traditional square base, and a wide refectory with a dome over the chapel. The bright red bricks harmoniously blended with the summer greenery and winter snows, giving the structure a festive appearance.

After the revolution, the church continued to function despite the Bolsheviks seizing icons and church utensils. During the war in 1941, the building was heavily damaged and was closed for safety. However, at the end of the war, thanks to the efforts of parishioners and the rector, services were resumed.

In 1960, the church was finally closed, and the premises were used as a warehouse. Local residents attempted to remove the Mettlach tiles from the floor. In 1994, the building was transferred to the Kaluga Diocese. At that time, it was in a deplorable state, so restoration work began soon after.
