The Archangel Michael Church in the village of Churaevo, built in the second half of the 19th century, is a monument of architecture and is under state protection.

Originally, the wooden church of Archangel Michael was consecrated in 1708. In 1873, a stone church was built in its place.

Worship services were temporarily suspended only during the Great Patriotic War, when the village was under occupation and fierce battles were fought. The residents of Churaevo showed resilience and courage: after the war, local authorities wanted to place a club in the church, but the parishioners, many of whom were veterans, defended the building and achieved the construction of a separate club.

During the years of the 'Khrushchev persecutions', a procession took place from the spring where the icon of St. Nicholas the Warrior was found to the Churaevo church. Despite threats and pressure, up to 2000 people participated in it.

In 2008, to mark the 300th anniversary of the Archangel Michael Church, the building was renovated and the territory improved. A spiritual and educational center 'Istoki' and a children's Sunday school operate at the church.
