The Saint Vladimir Prince Church in Asbest is the oldest among the newly built churches in the city. During the Soviet era, all religious buildings in this area were destroyed. Since the early 1990s, the Prince Vladimir Church has become the main center of Orthodoxy in Asbest.

The first church in this place appeared during World War I. Its history is shrouded in mystery, as are the borders of the Asbest settlement at that time. This was an area of underground mining, known as the 'Asbest Mines.' For the spiritual needs of the workers, a portable church was brought here in honor of the icon of the Mother of God 'Kazan,' which had previously been used for rituals among the nomadic tribes of the Vagul. Although the church was officially recorded as being en route, it actually remained in place due to its weight and lack of harness. When this became known in spiritual circles, the church was transported to the Asbest mines. In 1914, with the blessing of Bishop Seraphim of Yekaterinburg and Irbit, the construction of a church next to the portable church began. The bishop personally consecrated the altar in honor of the Dormition of the Mother of God. Before the revolution, there were confusions in documents regarding the name of the church: it was referred to as both the 'Dormition Portable Church' and the 'Kazan-Mother of God Church at the Asbest Mines.' The Dormition Church experienced a brief flourishing during the Soviet Union, but was closed and destroyed in 1930.

In the late 1980s, a prayer house opened in Asbest. The Orthodox community, consisting of city residents and nearby settlements, formed a 'twenty' that became the foundation of the future parish. With communal funds, a small house was purchased for prayer. The founders had to make considerable efforts, including a trip to Moscow to obtain permission. In 1988, the community received another house, bequeathed to the Russian Orthodox Church, where a domestic church was established. In the same year, Archbishop Melchizedek of Sverdlovsk and Kurgan consecrated the church in honor of Saint Vladimir Prince. Soon after, a Sunday school and an Orthodox library opened at the church.

The question arises: why did the new church become known as the Prince Vladimir Church instead of retaining its previous name? Probably, this is related to the fact that 1988 marked the 1000th anniversary of the baptism of Rus, and in honor of this event, the church was named after Saint Vladimir Prince.

By the mid-1990s, the domestic church could not accommodate all the believers, and there was a need for the construction of a new church. The parish priest Father Pavel (Alabyshev) managed to negotiate with residents, authorities, and enterprises for land allocation near the pine forest for construction. In February 1991, a memorial cross was erected, and the construction site was consecrated, while in the summer, Archbishop Melchizedek consecrated the pit for the foundation. The construction lasted four years, mainly funded by the efforts of parishioners and enterprises. Major work was completed by the summer of 1995, and on July 27, a procession took place from the prayer house to the new church. The first service was held the next day, and the consecration of the church took place on August 12. The altar was named in honor of Saint Vladimir Prince.

Since then, the Prince Vladimir Church has become a center of Orthodoxy in Asbest, attracting many believers. Father Pavel (Alabyshev) did much for the parish, including the establishment of a Sunday school and an Orthodox museum. In July 2010, he passed away during a service, which became both a sorrow and an impetus for the parishioners. A new wave of work began: a prosphora was established, and the domes and crucifixes were replaced. The church is constantly being updated and adorned.

In 1998, the Prince Vladimir Church gained a 'successor.' The closed domestic church reopened and was consecrated in honor of the icon of the Mother of God 'Tenderness.' In 2004, a new Mother of God Church was built based on it.
