The city of Zhukovka was founded in 1871 along with the construction of the railway. In 1896, a church was built in honor of St. Alexander Nevsky, funded by the nobleman G.I. Gantskevich, dedicated to the salvation of the Royal Family during the train crash at the Borki station in 1888. Funds for the construction were also donated by the righteous St. John of Kronstadt. Initially, the church belonged to the parish of the village of Foshnya, but in 1898 it became an independent parish. Around 1931, the church was closed, and in 1942 it was destroyed and burned by the fascists.

The construction of the modern church in the name of St. Alexander Nevsky began in 1989 with the revival of the parish community. On May 4, 1991, with the blessing of Bishop Paisiy of Oryol and Bryansk, the cornerstone of the future church was consecrated. On May 4, 1995, Archbishop Melchizedek of Bryansk and Sevsk conducted the consecration of the new church.
