The Church of St. John the Apostle and Evangelist is located in the village of Nozdrachevo in the Kursk district of the Kursk region. Its construction was completed in 1895 thanks to the court advisor Phemistocles Vasilyevich Shagarov, who was buried at the altar wall. The church project was developed by the famous architect Slesarev, and the consecration was conducted by Archbishop Juvenaly (Maslovsky) in the same year.

In 1937, the church was closed and used as a grain warehouse, but in 1941 it was reopened, and since then, services have continued there. Among the prominent clergy who served here were Archimandrite Hippolyt (Khalin), Archimandrite Barnabas (Drobyshev), as well as priests Anatoly (Tokmakov), Valery (Pashkov), Nikolai (Yakimovich), and Nikolai (Gashporenko).

Currently, the rector of the church is Priest Sergey (Kolpakov). A women's community operates at the church, living according to monastic rules. Among the particularly revered relics of the church are an 18th-century icon from Mount Athos depicting St. Great Martyr Panteleimon (the Healer), the Fyodorovskaya and Kazan icons of the Mother of God, as well as a reliquary with the relics of the Optina Elders Nectarios and Anatoly, the Venerable Macarius of Kalazin, and the Bethlehem infants.
