The Kyltovo Cross Exaltation Women's Monastery is located in the Yaren district on the banks of the Kyltovka River, which flows into the Vym River. This is now the territory of the Komi Republic, Knyazhpogostsky District, village of Kyltovo.

The monastery was founded in 1894 thanks to the petition and financial support of Arkhangelsk merchant of the first guild Afanasy Vasilyevich Bulichev. He chose a site where the hermit Vasily Alexeyevich Pesterov had previously erected a cross; this elder drowned in the Vym River in the 1830s. Bulichev, the founder of the monastery, died in 1902 in the Solovetsky Monastery. He left a will to his daughter, merchant from Arkhangelsk Anna Belyaeva, that the profits from the Seregovsky salt factory should go towards the construction of new buildings in the Kyltovo Monastery.

The wooden single-story church with a bell tower was consecrated in 1894 in honor of Saint Stephen of Perm, the enlightener of the Zyryans. The stone five-domed church began construction in 1905 and was consecrated in 1911 in the name of Zosima and Savvatiy of Solovetsky. The side altar was dedicated to the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. The churches were well supplied with vestments and church utensils.

The Church of Saint Stephen of Perm in Kyltovo Monastery was destroyed by the Bolsheviks during the Soviet era.
