In 2005, the construction of a new brick church began in Vygonichi. The location was chosen on Lenin Street, opposite the district administration building, in collaboration with the district leadership and the ruling archbishop. Active construction of the church started in 2009. The main altar will be consecrated in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, while the old building is planned to house the representation of the parish.

The new church is being built in an eclectic style. A semicircular apse and a one-story refectory with a square three-tiered bell tower adjoin the main cube with five domes. The main volume of the building is topped with an eight-pitched roof of complex profile, crowned with a central onion dome on a three-tiered pyramid of "blind" and light four- and eight-sided shapes. Smaller domes are located above the corners of the square in the recesses of the roof profile. The external decor is modest and includes gable pediments, corner pilasters, and a belt in the upper parts of the square and tiers of the bell tower. In the spring of 2013, crosses were installed on the gilded domes of the church.
