The register of monasteries and churches of the Velikoustyug diocese mentions a church dedicated to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, located in the Veslyana volost of the Yaren district, in the year 1755. In 1797, manuscripts refer to a wooden church in honor of St. Nicholas of Myra.

In 1818, thanks to the efforts of the parishioners, a one-story stone church in the name of St. Nicholas was built, which was consecrated in 1820. On May 10, 1884, permission was granted to rebuild this church with a bell tower due to its dilapidation. By the decree of the Vologda Spiritual Consistory, a new two-story stone church with a bell tower was erected in 1896.

The altars in the church were consecrated as follows: in the lower church, dedicated to St. Nicholas of Myra, in 1896; in the upper church, dedicated to the Annunciation, in 1905. In 1788, there were 189 parishioners registered at the church, and in 1868, there were 262.

The Nicholas church was looted and closed during the Soviet era. Currently, the building is in ruins.
