The St. Nicholas Church in the village of Tishanka was built in the second half of the 19th century and restored in 2005.

The history of the village of Tishanka is closely linked to the noble family of Golitsyn. They founded the Tishanka hamlet in 1790, as well as the New and Old hamlets. By the early 19th century, the population of Tishanka reached 320 people.

In 1868, the Golitsyn family, along with the residents, built a wooden St. Nicholas Church.

In the 1930s, the church, like many others in the country, was closed. During the Great Patriotic War, services resumed in the church, but it was closed again in the late 1940s.

The church building was not completely destroyed and was used at different times as a bakery, a secondary school, a local administration office, a dormitory, and a school gym. Thanks to this, it has been preserved, although it has partially deteriorated.

The revival of the church began in 2005, and in April 2006, a prayer service was held there. On November 11, 2006, Archbishop Ioann of Belgorod and Stary Oskol consecrated the St. Nicholas Church of Tishanka. The church houses an icon of St. Nicholas, brought from the Holy Mountain Athos.
