This church has a rich history. The first building in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was erected in the center of the village of Smotrovaya Buda between 1889 and 1892. It was a cross-shaped structure made of logs in a "paw" style and clad with planks on the outside. From 1933 to 1941, the church was used as a grain storage facility, and the bell tower was dismantled. It remained in this state until the mid-sixties when it was finally closed. In August 1989, a fire nearly destroyed it, but thanks to the initiative of local residents, it was decided to build a new church on the same site.

In the summer of 2013, a prayer service was held at the future church site, and construction work began, which continues to this day. The construction is being carried out by LLC "Klintsy Special Mechanization Management," which is also one of the main sponsors of the project.

On October 13, 2019, the consecration and installation of bells for the under-construction St. Nicholas the Wonderworker Church took place.
